Drab2Fab:Mrs. Hines Class

Hello dear Bella Nest readers.  My name is Sharon and I blog at Mrs. Hines Class where I share the creative process behind turning my house into a home.

This week I've been very busy transforming my front porch from Winter drab 2 Spring fab! There’s something about the ‘front porch’ scene that encompasses all of what life should be. And with every season, I get to decorate it and recreate that picturesque, Hallmark card kind of feel that I love so much. Let me show you. Here it is decorated for Christmas.

After Christmas, everything comes down and the porch looks sparse and barren. As soon as the weather starts to warm up even the slightest bit, I try to add a little bit of color with a Spring wreath. This is the porch in February as I began to transform it from it's drabby winter look.

And here it is now, refreshed and ready for the Spring and Summer months ahead.

A white lantern and the vibrant blue of plumbago brighten up the corner by the front door.

The pillows were changed out, and greenery and fun coral votive holders were added to the table.

Pink geraniums fill the once empty pots.

Now that it has warmed up outside,
I'm really looking forward to spending more time enjoying my front porch.

It was a joy to share my front porch makeover with you today.
If you're ever in the neighborhood, come sit a spell.
Until next time,
Sharon

  2. Bliss, that's very kind. Start by searching magazines, Pinterest, Houzz, and even by taking drives around the neighborhood to collect inspiration. Once you've gathered your inspiration, start studying it and paying attention to what you like about each source. Piece those ideas together to create the look you want.

  5. Sharon,
What a lovely front porch area that you've created. I just love wooden rocking chairs, I have one on my front porch also. Could just sit in it for hours taking in the beauty and listening to birds chirp in the mornings. Maybe one day I'll spend those hours doing just that. (big grin)
