Decorating with Stripes

Happy Monday morning, Friends! (can you tell the excitement in my voice?!)
This was not a typical Monday morning around the Mc house.
1. Although I'm usually an early bird, I was able to sleep in a little longer because school is out ALL WEEK for my son!  (apparently Mardi Gras is an important holiday for some folks around here!)
2. My dear friend, Sunshine, has come to visit again after many dreary days in a row.
 3. Yesterday the family took a trip to the yummiest smelling place in town, Krispy Kreme, and ordered a dozen fat rolls doughnuts so I didn't have to make breakfast this morning.
I don't know what to do with myself... maybe I'll head to Pinterest for a bit. =0)

I love to decorate with stripes as you can see in this project. These are some of my favorite striped Pinspirations...

Jute...my new friend

Do you have any glass bottles in your home? Any jute? Here's a fun craft that calls for these...

After Christmas, I'll use starfish and sand dollars to replace the snowflakes.

How about an old lampshade?

Have you worked with jute lately? I'd love to see what you've come up with!

DIY: A Striped Coffee Table

I found this coffee table at a rummage sale with a $25 sticker on it, but was able to talk the owner down to $12... yes, always ask if they'll take less. You never know unless you ask!
First, I removed the legs and gave her a good sanding.
I LOVE this little DeWalt!

I brush painted the entire table with a satin white and used painter's tape to make stripes.
Sorry there's no picture for this, I'm still learning to remember everything I need to capture in the process!
I sanded around the edges to give it a little distressed look then used
Minwax water-based polycrylic protective finish.
And here she is...
Can you tell I like stripes?!
