With a move pending in the near future for me and my family, I've been in serious design planning mode! For years I've admired the shabby chic look with all the white and soft floral patterns, but was hesitant to use it with a little boy and a hubby that love the outdoors, not to mention a dog that loves to dig!
It all started with our first house we bought. It came with pretty white cabinets, white countertops, and white floors. The only thing is they didn't stay that way without a lot of cleaning. It consumed me.
I'm having flashbacks now of walking behind my guys with a rag and cleaner, wiping and scrubbing...
But once again, I've fallen for my love of white after seeing many beautiful, white homes in blogland. I even bought a white slipcover for my couch! It stays covered with a blanket most of the time and it's kind of been a hassle to put back on after it's regular cloroxing, but I'm up for the maintenance... for now anyways.
Here are some inspirations I'm keeping in mind (actually on my Pinterest boards) for the next house:
Thanks to blogland, I can now define my favorite decorating style as Vintage Coastal Chic.
What do you call your style?
I never know exactly what to call my style! Definetly eclectic of some sort!
ReplyDeleteI love your style....so keep on keepin' on! What your create is always beautiful!

Love all those pics Holly! I agree that the homes we see make me wonder if they secretly have a housekeeper! You should do up at least ONE room the way you want....maybe you can install an alarm system...if they cross the threshold, they get buzzed!I feel your pain with the horde I have here!Keep dreaming and planning...it will come true!

love all your inspiration pictures. Pinterest rocks, but I've been pulling out all my old magazine tear sheets lately to get inspired. Some times the old way is the best way.
ReplyDeleteI love the first picture too- I have it pinned for my future (in my dreams) beach house! I will be pinning some of your other inspiration as well!
ReplyDeletequirky. My favorite picture is #7
ReplyDeleteLike those inspirations myself. I think I am particularly drawn to the ones with the white and beige or the aqua.

ReplyDeleteHey there Holly...I agree with Lorraine that you should decorate at least one room in your favorite style.
ReplyDeleteI think my style is primarily french country, but I love the industrial look as well as cottage and farmhouse.

I Just love the inspiration and all the POPS of color as well!Thank you so much Holly!
ReplyDeleteI love white, too...but then I get "bored" and the ADHD kicks in. In this house (number 6, I have more of a 'peaceful' vibe. (Who am I kidding? I am in full-on 'old lady' mode.)
ReplyDeleteLove this post and your style is so fresh and cozy! I love the white dining room! I am moving soon too, next month! Are you ready yet? I am so excited to get into our new home and make it our nest! Lots of painting to do but it has a great layout and potential. I love white and will be mixing it more into our new home...I think my home is 'eclectic', a mix of transitional, global (hubby travels a lot and brings pieces for our home when he returns)and some vintage too. Somehow it all just works. I am following you back - love your blog! Have a great weekend! Heather
ReplyDeleteHi, Holly! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I'm now a follower of you, too. I love the white and floral shabby chic look, but for some reason have never gone that route in my home. Like you said, it seems like a lot of cleaning would be necessary. I think I would define my style as more of an English cottage look. I like cozy colors, lots of pattern, and little accessories. That being said, I don't want a cluttered or cutesy look... so it's all about finding balance. Not sure that I've found that, but I'm working on it!
ReplyDeleteHolly, I'm loving what I'm seeing so far on your blog! We are in the middle of a move here as well. I'm glad to find another white decor lover!! Have a great day! ~ Jamie
