Drab2Fab:Thrifty Decor Mom

Welcome, Friends!

Hello Bella Nest readers! My name is Lori
and you can find me over at my

I'm so excited to be here and share some of
my thrifty decorating ideas with you.
I love to decorate but don't like to spend
a lot of money.

One of my favorite ways to save money
is by creating my own artwork.
This is what I did for my family
room . . .

I simply framed some old sheet music and
maps that my Grandma gave to me.
Not only is this very inexpensive but it has
special meaning to me.

I already had the frames and painted
them black. This project was
FREE and the "art" can easily be
switched out if I want a new look.

Another way I save money is by shopping
at my local Goodwill and thrift stores.
I found this very brassy lamp for
$7.50 and jazzed it up with some
aqua spray paint.

Here is what it looked like before . . .

. . . and here it is after the magic of
spray paint and a $12 shade . . .

I am currently working on my Family Room to
make it brighter and fill it with things I love.

The sofa is dark brown so I added aqua/blue, yellow
and green accessories to lighten things up.

All of the pillows (except for 1) are cloth
napkins that I sewed together and
stuffed.

I used an old bar stool as a plant stand next
to the sofa. It needed a new coat of paint
and I sanded the edges for a distressed look.
The old picnic basket came from
an antique store and the wire basket is from
Hobby Lobby. I filled it with
old school books that belonged to
my Grandfather. I love to look through
the books and see his handwriting.

Here is another example of my DIY artwork . . .

I made this from a kitchen cupboard door
and some vinyl decals I found at
Goodwill.

Thank you so much Holly for having
me as your guest today. I would love for
you all to stop by for a visit and see some
more of my thrifty decorating ideas!
